The annual big event of global licensing industry – Hong Kong International Licensing Show started on Jan. 9. There were more than five hundred brands and licensing projects of over 170 exhibitors that from sixteen countries and regions, including some well-known projects like Angry Birds and Pororo.
China has a rapid economic growth and business chances can be found everywhere. Licensing industry comes right on cue. It’s said that licensing can bring the biggest profit to cartoon industry. Some brands, Hello Kitty and Transformers for example, win a roaring success by developing and marketing licensed products. Licensing is a win-win way, licensors gain royalty by contract while licensees get the right to use the brands which will increase the value of the products and their selling profits. Some data presents that the turnover of licensed products, especially cartoon and fashion products, has reached 3100 3.1 billion in China, making China the second largest market in Asia.
